Alexandria, VA

Another "must stop," that we’ve had for many years in the DC area, is the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia. They treat us like kings there, and we all leave with big smiles and full bellies. In music circles, the reputation of the Birchmere is legendary. Many careers have been launched from this internationally recognized music hall that celebrated it’s 50th anniversary as a venue in 2016. It’s an awesome place to see a band. Especially when we’ll be there on May 31st.

Annapolis, Rams Head - 5/30/18 @ 8:00pm

Annapolis seriously is like a sister city to us. We’ve played Annapolis 26 times over the years and there are endless reasons why. For one, it’s an amazing city, the Harbor, the Naval Academy, the cemetery are all amazing.

The Crab in Annapolis is to die for and you haven’t lived until you’ve had some crab cakes from Maryland. The music scene defines the word “flourishing.” We always can walk down a couple of doors on West St. and see several great bands playing every night. We’ve got to know many of the local musicians there, and they are amazing musicians and human beings. The overarching reason we’ve cultivated these relationships in Annapolis is because of the Rams Head. The Rams Head has always treated us very well and after playing there so often they are family. And the energy and welcome vibe from the audiences at the Rams Head are unsurpassed. Some of fondest memories on the road are linked to this small city and we are, as usual, very excited to return on Wednesday, May 30th. Come see what all the fuss is about.

Capitol Theatre

This Theatre from 1921 was recently restored in 2013 and it’s absolutely gorgeous, We’ve had the pleasure of playing in Clearwater, at the Clearwater Jazz festival several times and had some great times. We’ve also played the Capitol Theatre a couple of times now, and we’re excited to play this beautiful stage once again. If you’re new to the Capitol Theatre you can take a virtual tour here

If you’re in the Tampa, St. Petersburg area you owe it to yourself to see this venue. I know of a cool band that’s playing there on Sunday May 27th. hint, hint… I can’t think of a more appropriate band to showcase this venue’s dapper vibe. The show starts at 8:00 pm. We’ll see you there!

Jacksonville, FL

5/26/18 @ 9:30 **free show**

These days, it seems, that some “Jazz Festivals” seldomly feature jazz. I know, it seems odd, but that just seems to be the way things are. However The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is a definite exception to that trend, and is hosting a ton of great jazz or jazz related artists. In fact, their line up of artists is the most impressive that I’d seen in some time. This multiple day festival is super impressive. On the day we’re playing the festival, Saturday, May 26th 2018, they’ll be hosting Vijay Iyer, Bad Plus, Ottmar Liebert, Jonathan Baptiste, Scheila E and Pete Escovido. And that’s just Saturday’s line up!

Other festival days include: Diane Reeves, Charles Lloyd, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Trombone Shorty. and a bunch more. Wow. Too bad we can’t stay for the other days of the festival. Come on out. We’ll be there as early so we can check out as much great music as possible before we go on. We’ll be taking the stage at 7:45. We’ll see you there!

Bonita Springs, FL

We’re coming out to Flordia again! We just can’t get our fill of boiled peanuts and gator jerky. Our first stop will bring us to Bonita Springs. A beautiful Gulf coast city between the equally beautiful Naples and Fort Meyers. They have a state-of-the art, world-class event center there called the Southwest Flordia Events Center, and we’re going to be there to play for some tan Floridans on May 25th. It must be a chill place to live since Alan Jackson, Donna Summer, Bob Seger and Alex Lifeson from Rush, live there. Actually that would make an interesting band. If y’all need a sax player, I know a guy.

Las Vegas, NV

Has the statute of limitations been lifted on using the phrase “Vegas Baby!” again?

The Movie, “Swingers,” came out over 20 years ago and besides being instrumental in launching Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s careers, it also launched such phrases as “Vegas Baby! and “You’re so money!” For while there, using the phrases “Vegas Baby” or “You’re so money!” was well…. let’s just say, a bit passé. But like many things, what’s old becomes new again or at the least, “acceptable” again. Frankly, I’m patiently waiting for the day when is ok to bring back “Whhha-suuuuuuhhhuuuuuuuuu(p)!! ” from the Bud commercial. Ok, maybe some things should be left to die in obscurity. But one can dream.

That being said, VEGAS BABY!

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is back in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 12th at 8:00 pm at the Railhead at Boulder Station. They have a beautiful concert venue and we’re looking forward to playing some of the tunes from our latest, “Louie, Louie, Louie” record. Especially the Louis Prima tunes. Nothing says Vegas like Louis Prima, The “King of the Las Vegas Lounge.”

If you’re “money” you’ll be there….

Ok, you’re right. Perhaps that one needs to marinate in forced obscurity a tad bit longer.

Yucaipa, CA

Yucaipa Regional Park- 5/4/18 @ 7:30pm **free show**

As a very young child I vaguely remember trips to Yucaipa, California, to visit my Grandmother. There was a “Jellystone” campground and I remember when I saw the big Sign with Yogi Bear on it, that we were close to Grandma’s home. That was, ahem…….. over 4 decades ago. I believe the campground and Yogi Bear are there no longer. However, I remember that it was a beautiful place, and that definitely hasn’t changed. It’s Nestled in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains and seems like a perfect place to make music. Yogi Bear and Boo Boo were always on the search for “Pic-A-Nic Bas-kets” but on May 4th You can leave the picnic Basket at home and get your food and beverages from the array of concession tents and beer garden, at the festival. Our **free** Show starts at 7:30. Hope to see you there!
